Nick and Ruthie Hoffbauer are Balloonmeister and Balloon Event Coordinator, respectively, for the Indiana State Fair balloon events held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. |

Each year the traditional "Giant Balloon Race" supplies a bit of color to the Indiana State Fair. Balloons gather at the Fairgrounds infield at dawn to participate in the invitational Hare and Hound competition. Spectators should plan to arrive around 6:30am to catch the inflation and watch as the balloons lift off.For 2009, the Race takes place on August 15th. |

Don't forget to join us for the "Night Lights" event, the evening of August 14th - come out and watch the balloons as they inflate on the infield at dusk and then entertain the crowds as they "Glow" in the night air. A perfect opportunity to bring your kids and cameras, as spectators can walk along the infield roads, getting up-close glimpses of the magical balloons. |
